In todays economy fashionistas are learning how to be more economically fashion savvy and making it work. Style is not about what we're wearing but how we wear it! It's about mixing it up and having fun with it.
If we take a step back, fashion for some time was about wearing designer head to toe for the true fashionista. Today it's about mixing designer with non-designer items. Making the most of what you can afford and creating a look that works for you. The trick is knowing what the current trends and styles are, looking at what the high-end designers are showing, then shopping at your level of affordability and creating the look that best suits you. For me when I'm mixing it up I prefer my handbag and shoes to be designer and mix and match my clothing. There's a certain confidence that I feel.
In creating your own personal style one should think about their own personal image. What are we saying and how are we saying it. I often think about these questions when I'm determining my style. What am I saying about me? Sometimes i want to be sporty, classy, trendy, or laid back. However, regardless of the style I'm going for on a particular day, I know the most important thing is being my authentic self, not trying to imitate but rather create.
So how do you mix it up and have fun with your style? Who is your authentic style?
